How do you keep up with an important follow up? Do you rely on your memory, a Post-it Note, someone else reminding you? If you are using any of these tactics it’s time for a technology reminder upgrade. Gone are the days where lead follow up is a 9-5 job and your battle station is your desk. Your follow up list should be mobile, accessible and automatically reminding you of the precise time you need to make a move. So many people who pitch drop the ball when it comes to effective lead follow up simply by not using the best tools. After you pitch a warm lead, schedule the follow-up call in your electronic calendar by setting an
iCal appointment for yourself. Include any of your pitching notes accompanied by dates so you a history of your follow up as a reminder of where you are at in the pitching process. Schedule the follow up for a time and date you either discussed with the person you are pitching or the next time and date you think you will successfully catch him or her on the phone. Once all this information is in your electronic calendar, you can always move it around, add to the notes or delete it altogether.
